Human artificial insemination is a medical term for an insertion of sperm into the womb. The process involves removing semen and leaving the healthiest sperm behind for insertion in the womb. Before undergoing the procedure, couples will be required to have blood tests, hormone tests, sperm sample tests and ovulation tests. Women may also have to take fertility drugs to produce a stimulated cycle. Artificial insemination is expensive and can only be done in specialized health units.
