Lip cancer is a type of oral cancer that is relatively rare. It occurs when there is an uncontrolled proliferation of cancer cells in the lips. The majority of cases of lip cancer are due to squamous cell carcinoma (cancer that begins in the epithelial cells which line the lips. the cells are usually thin and flat resembling fish scales).
