In sarcoidosis of the eyes, your eyes may appear inflamed, red and painful; dry and sensitive to light or have blurred vision; glaucoma may develop and can lead to blindness in severe cases. Sarcoidosis of bones and joints causes aching joints, inflammation and swelling. In the heart, you may have chest pain (angina), irregular heartbeat and heart failure in severe cases. In the nervous system, you may experience double vision, numbness or pins and needles. Sarcoidosis of the kidney leads to high levels of calcium in your blood and urine causing vomiting, thirst and excessive urine production. Over time it can lead to kidney stones and eventually kidney failure. In the liver and spleen, you may get an enlarged liver and spleen which can cause anaemia (too few red blood cells or not enough of the oxygen-carrying pigment called haemoglobin).
