To diagnose sarcoidosis your doctor will ask about your symptoms, examine you and may ask about your medical history. There are a number of tests for sarcoidosis. The doctor will refer you to a specialist for the tests. The tests depend on what part of your body is affected and help to determine the amount of damage to your organs and find out whether you need treatment. The tests may include a chest X-ray, a CT scan, biopsy of the affected organ. Bronchoscopy involves passing a telescope through your nose to your lungs where the doctor can take a sample of the cells. Blood tests measure a number of different substances in your blood incl your calcium levels and whether your liver and kidneys are working well.
