Molluscum contagiosum takes 2-6wks after infection to show symptoms and usually appears as large rashes with dimples at their top, which when squeezed, release a semi-solid material. Many of these rashes form tiny sores that can appear on areas of your skin or on the mucus glands of your eyes, mouth, nose or genitals. There are few health risks associated with molluscum contagiosum; however, the infection can be quite uncomfortable and long-lasting. Usually the rashes are painless unless they become infected with bacteria.
