If you are infected by the human papilloma virus, it takes 2-9mths for warts to occur, during which time an excessive activity of skin growth slowly develops. This is the main symptom. More than 50% of them disappear on their own within 2yrs. You have common warts mostly on the tops of the fingers and hands, usually as rough, thick, cauliflower-like growths that develop alone or in large numbers. Flat warts are small, slightly elevated, flat-topped, pink or tan papules, are smoother than the common wart and have minimal scale. They occur primarily on the face, arms and legs, and a person can have several, even 100s of these growths. Genital warts appear as growths in the frontal or anal areas and are elevated and slightly cauliflower-like.
