The symptoms of osteomalacia can be quite vague-you may just feel generally unwell. However, symptoms to look out for include bone pain, esp in your hips; stress fractures(tiny cracks in the bone)-this is often the cause of bone pain and can lead to complete fractures; muscle weakness, especially at the front of your thighs and in your buttocks-this may make you waddle when you walk, or you may find it difficult getting up from a chair. If you had rickets as a child, you may notice that any existing bone deformities that you have(eg 'knock-knees' or a hunched back) get worse.
