Cracked heels are more difficult to treat when the skin around the rim of the heel is thick. Some common treatments for cracked heels are:application of a moisturizing cream, use of a foot scrubbing stone or other piece of equipment made for removing hard skin so as to reduce the thickness of the hard skin, avoiding wearing open backed shoes or thin soled shoes and wearing shoes with a good shock absorbing sole.
