Suicidal risk factors include:serious mental health problems, disabling or painful physical illnesses, severely abused persons whether sexual, physical or emotional, isolated people in society like the extremely poor, those on illegal drugs, the homeless, the old and those in prison, having a prior suicide attempt, alcohol abuse, or having the means, such as weapons or medicines, to commit suicide, thinking there is no other way to solve the problem. Men are more likely than women to complete suicide.
