Food poisoning, also referred to as food-borne illnesses, is an illness caused by eating food contaminated with bacteria, parasites or viruses, which are mostly found in raw meat, chicken, fish, and eggs, but they can spread to any type of food. Infectious organisms can contaminate food at any point during its processing or production. Contamination can also occur at home if food is incorrectly handled, improperly cooked or inadequately stored.
