Menopausal bleeding may be caused by several things. They include trauma to the vagina, eg during sexual intercourse, and aging, when the lining of the vagina becomes thin and easily injured. Some infections, eg thrush, if severe may cause this. Cancer of the inner lining of the womb(endometrium) is a cause. Also cancer of the cervix. Forgotten contraceptive devices may also be a cause.
