The main risk factor for urticaria is genetic-what you have inherited from your parents. The other risk factor is exposure to offending substances, eg some drugs, insect stings(eg bees and wasps), some foods and food additives, parasitic infections, conditions such as heat or cold, pressure, vibrations and sunlight.
