Pneumothorax is a trapped air or gas in the pleural space of the lung(between the lung and the chest wall), causing the lung to collapse. Pneumothorax may be caused by an open chest wound that permits air to come in. This may be in situations like stab wounds, gun shot wounds on the chest and some medical conditions may also trigger it.
