Tests for pericarditis are mainly blood tests and images of the heart. The blood tests help to check how the kidneys and the liver are working. The doctor gets images of your heart with an X-ray of your chest, an echocardiogram and sometimes a computed tomograph (CT) scan. Some wires may be placed on your chest to show how your heart is beating.
