Various allergens can cause allergic contact dermatitis, most of them chemical, inc mercury, ethylenediamine, poison ivy, nickel, rubber gloves, formaldehyde, topical medications, preservatives in cosmetic agents, neomycin and fragrances. UV light may cause photo allergic dermatitis in some people.
