Surgical treatment of secondary hypertension is only for treating the cause. Coarctation (narrowing) of the aorta, some kidney diseases and some hormonal diseases are treated by surgery. Once the cause has been treated the secondary hypertension disappears. Not all cases are eligible for surgery. If the cause is pregnancy, delivery will take care of the hypertension.
