Vocal cord paralysis is usually diagnosed by observation of the motion of the vocal cords. A laryngoscope will be used by your doctor for this purpose. The strength of the muscles might also be checked by your doctor using a procedure called electromyography. There is no specific test for vocal cord paralysis.
