Your doctor will make a diagnosis of vitiligo from a history of vitiligo in your family or trauma, sunburn or rashes at the site before depigmentation started. You will also be asked about any autoimmune diseases or sensitivity to the sun. You will be examined and a sample of skin may be taken for microscopic examination. Blood samples will be taken to check if the white blood cell count and some auto-antibodies are elevated.
