The best test for pulmonary hypertension is a procedure called right-sided cardiac catheterisation. This invasive procedure involves inserting a catheter into the right side of the heart through the big vessels and measuring the blood pressure in the chambers and the pulmonary vessels. Other tests are echocargiography(an ultrasound of the heart), chest x-ray and CT scan. Blood tests are also done to find the underlying cause.
