To reduce the risk of getting alcoholic cirrhosis, limit the amount of alcohol you drink or don't drink alcohol at all. Sensible drinking guidelines are:women-not above 2-3 units of alcohol/day and not above 14/wk; men-not above 3-4 units/day or 21/wk. If you have gone above these amounts, you should go without alcohol for 48hrs.
