A common risk of developing peptic ulcers are medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) eg aspirin, ibuprofen and diclofenac. Most people can take these safely, but if you take NSAIDs over for a long time, they can damage the mucus lining in your stomach and cause a peptic ulcer. If you're in doubt which painkillers to take, ask your healthcare provider.
