For milder symptoms e. g skin rashes your doctor may prescribe a steroid cream. If you have more serious symptoms e. g inflammation in the lining of your heart or lungs, you will be given steroid tablets. Higher steroid doses may be needed if you have inflamed kidneys or severe anaemia. The possible side effects include weight gain and muscle weakness.
