Treatment is often not advised in the early stages. However, if Dupuytren's contracture is affecting how you live your life or carry out your job, then you may need treatment. More advanced Dupuytren's contracture is nearly always treated with surgery. The longer a contracture has lasted, the more likely it is that your fingers will not be able to straighten up after surgery, so it's advisable to get treatment as early as you can.
