A number of factors can contribute to gastritis, including: infection with a bacterium called helicobacter pylori; regular use of pain relievers, e. g non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin; excessive alcohol use; stress; bile reflux disease and some conditions which cause your own cells to attack fellow cells, causing a condition called autoimmune gastritis. Gastritis may be linked to other medical conditions, e. g HIV/AIDS, parasitic infections, Crohn's disease, some connective tissue disorders and liver or kidney failure.
