Most people with acute pancreatitis will need hospital treatment. Treatment usually consists of controlling pain, treating the inflammation and 'resting' the pancreas until symptoms improve. If vomiting occurs, patient will have a tube placed through the nose into the stomach to decompress the gut - remove fluids and air.
