Symptoms of simple malaria include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, muscle ache, joint weakness, sweating and blurred vision. In a child under 5, fever is a common symptom of malaria. Simple malaria can quickly progress to a more severe form, with death occurring within 1 or 2 days of first signs of illness. Symptoms of severe malaria include convulsions, rapid breathing, inability to eat and drink, inability to sit or stand, unconsciousness and pale palms, tongue and inner eyelids. Seek diagnosis and treatment IMMEDIATELY from the nearest health facility or village health team if you suspect malaria.
