Depression occurs when one has at least 5 of the following symptoms at the same time: Sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy, weight change due to overeating or loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping or oversleeping, fatigue or loss of energy or feelings of worthlessness and thoughts of death or suicide. If you have any of these signs, seek diagnosis and treatment from a health worker. Treatment can include: counselling, medication, lifestyle changes and improving your social networks.
