Use latrines to prevent Bilharzia. Do not urinate or defecate in or near a water source. Always boil or treat drinking water and avoid swimming, cultivating or playing in fresh water that contains snails. Collect water for home use from a safe water source like bore hole or protected well and seek treatment for all suspected cases of bilharzia at the nearest health unit. Bilharzia can be cured with the correct treatment.
