Malaria in pregnancy - Prevention

Since malaria is a serious infection, it is important to know how to prevent it. When you are in a malarious area, you are advised to use mosquito repellents and sleep under insecticide treated mosquito nets. You may be advised to take medications during the second half of pregnancy to prevent the complications of malaria like anaemia and low birth weight. For those travelling, you need to visit your health care provider for advice on the appropriateness of taking malaria prophylaxis.
