Complemantary feeding - Water

It is OK to give water to your baby after the age of six months. Give your baby no more than 60 ml of water at once and no more than 125 ml of water a day. Too much water will fill your baby up and reduce their intake of food. Drinks should not be given with a meal, 2 hours before a meal or 2 hours after it. Boil drinking water to make it safe for your baby. Be sure to cool it before giving it to your baby. Before the age of six months, water is not necessary and giving water may affect your baby’s growth as it may reduce their intake of breast milk or formula.
