Mumps is a viral disease caused by the mumps virus that commonly affects children and sometimes adults. It is spread through person to person contact. Signs of mumps include headache, fever, painful swelling of the salivary glands, pain when chewing, dry mouth and even voice loss in serious cases. Mumps can also cause painful inflammation of the testicles in boys and men. If not treated early, this can lead to infertility. Seek medical care and treatment from the nearest health centre IMMEDIATELY if presenting these symptoms.
