Menopause is the biological change that happens to women at the end of their fertile phase (when she can make babies). This is natural and normal and usually happens between 45-55 years. At this age the level of oestrogen in the woman falls so ovulation (releasing an egg) and periods stop. This means after/during the menopause the woman has no periods and cannot have children anymore.
