A family planning method for men is the condom. It is very effective at stopping pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and HIV if used correctly and EVERY TIME. Another family planning method is vasectomy- when the tubes that carry sperm are cut. This is a permanent method of preventing pregnancy which has no side effects. Vasectomy does not protect from STIs and HIV. At the moment there are no family planning pills/injections for men but some are being tested and might be available in the future. If possible both partners should be involved in family planning decisions. Go to a family planning counsellor together to discuss choices.
