Malnutrition occurs when a person's body is not getting enough food or is not getting the right foods in the right combination. Malnutrition is one of the leading causes of infant deaths and mental impairment. People with HIV, cancer, diarrhea, difficulty swallowing, alcoholism or drug abuse all stand the chance of becoming malnourished. Malnutrition is corrected by eating a balanced diet.
