Herpes is not a sign of HIV/AIDS. People with HIV/AIDS have lower immunity so can get herpes outbreaks more severely, more often and for longer. Herpes can also make HIV worse, causing the virus to multiply in the body faster. Herpes cannot be cured but it can be treated with anti-viral drugs. If you have HIV, herpes or both its important to see a doctor for medicine to help you. Having genital herpes increases your risk of catching and passing HIV during sex as the virus can pass through the sores. Abstain when you have sores and use condoms ALWAYS.
