Depo is hormonal family planning method also known as 'the injection'. It contains hormones which prevent pregnancy by stopping release of female eggs and making thick mucus at the mouth of the womb so sperm can not pass to the egg. It is an injection given every 3 months. It does NOT protect from HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
