Painful periods (dysmenorrhoea) is caused by contractions of the womb. Painkillers like panadol, exercise and taking warm water can help reduce pain. Some women have painful periods each month but pain should not last many days. If it does, it could be serious-go to the nearest health unit for a check-up AT ONCE. Dysmenorrhea may be made worse by STIs or other infections of the female reproductive system. Sex does NOT cure cramps. Sex during your period increases the risk of HIV/AIDS.
