Implanon is an arm implant. It prevents pregnancy by stopping the release of female eggs and making thick mucus at the entrance of the womb to stop sperm passing to the egg. Implanon prevents pregnancy for 3 years. After 3 years it stops working and it's important to get it removed. After removal you can have a new implant inserted immediately if you want. If you want to get pregnant implanon can be removed anytime and fertility will return. Implanon does NOT protect from HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections(STIs).
