A balanced diet includes proteins, vitamins and carbohydrates, fats and oils. Proteins are body building food necessary for body growth and development. They include meat, eggs, dairy products, beans, ground nuts and peas. Vitamins are body protecting foods protecting the body from diseases and helping with digestion. They include fruits and vegetables. Carbohydrates, fats and oils are energy giving foods that produce energy to keep the body active. These include cassava, posho, rice and fats and oils used for cooking. It is also important to take at least 3 litres of water each day to keep the body hydrated.
