HPV(human papillomavirus) is a virus which can be passed by sex. Some strains(types) of HPV cause warts but often it is invisible so you may not know you have it and there is no cure. Some strains of HPV cause cervical cancer. Women should try to have a vaginal exam or a test called a pap smear every 5yrs to check for this cancer. Condoms give good, but not complete, protection from HPV. Avoiding young sex and having just one sex partner helps prevent HPV and cervical cancer.
