Make sure you are not already pregnant before having an IUD fitted-take a test to find out. Very rarely, if an IUD is not fitted correctly it can fail and a woman becomes pregnant while using it. If you miss a period take a pregnancy test. If you are pregnant visit a clinic to have the IUD removed immediately. If this is done early there should be no damage to your unborn baby.
