Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is the infection and inflammation (swelling) of the womb, ovaries and fallopian tubes (which connect ovaries to the womb).PID is usually caused by Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) such as chlamydia and gonorrhea. To avoid PID protect yourself from STIs by abstaining, being faithful to 1 partner you have tested with or using condoms. PID is curable if treated early. If left untreated it can cause infertility.
