Treatment depends on the type of eye cancer, the size, its spread and your general health. There are 3 main treatments for eye cancer:surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Surgery involves removing just the affected tissue and is usually enough to remove most tumors of the eyelids. It's sometimes combined with radiotherapy. Some types (e. g melanoma of the eye) can be treated with laser therapy (a high-energy beam of light is used to destroy the cancer cells). Occasionally, if the cancer affects a large part of the eye, the whole eyeball may need to be removed.
