Actinomycosis is caused by a bacteria called actinomyces. Most of the time the bacteria lives without causing any harm on the lining of your digestive system and the vagina(in women).The bacteria only pose a problem to you if the tissue lining becomes damaged by injury or disease, allowing the bacteria to penetrate deeper into the body.
