The eye is an organ of vision or of light sensitivity. Your eyes are a pair of hollow structures located in bony sockets of the skull, functioning together or independently, each having a lens capable of focusing light on an internal structure called the retina from which nerve messages are sent to the brain for interpretation. The external, visible portion of the eye is made up of structures such as the eyelids, eyelashes and eyebrows.
