Your doctor may recommend surgery for the treatment of your pituitary tumors. The surgeon will try to cut out just the tumor and leave as much as possible of the normal pituitary gland behind. Sometimes this is not possible and the whole gland needs to be taken out. If the whole pituitary gland is removed, you will be put on drugs to replace the hormones that are normally produced (hormone replacement).
