Symptoms of yellow fever start 3-6 days after you have been bitten by an infected mosquito. This is known as the incubation period. The symptoms usually come on suddenly and can include high fever, shivers, headaches, nausea and/or vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle pain and aches, bloodshot eyes and/or flushing of your face. These symptoms usually last for 3-4 days and represent the acute phase of the virus. Most people begin to recover after this phase and their symptoms gradually disappear.
