Hypochondriasis, or hypochondria, is an uncontrollable fear that you have a serious disease even if no evidence of it can be found. You interpret normal body functions as symptoms of serious illness. People with hypochondria are preoccupied with their fear. This fear is severe and persistent and interferes with work as well as relationships. It is important to seek help early.
