If you have severe viral encephalitis, you may have seizures, breathing difficulties, coma or death. Some symptoms may last for a year or more, including fatigue, weakness, depression, personality changes, walking difficulties, memory problems. Some complications may be permanent, e. g memory loss, coherent speech, lack of muscle coordination, paralysis, or hearing or vision defects.
