If you or a friend or relative thinks you have symptoms of bipolar affective disorder, you should visit your doctor. A friend or relative may realise you have bipolar affective disorder before you do as they may be more aware of the changes in your behaviour. The doctor will ask about your symptoms, ask about your medical history, how you're feeling and may refer you to a psychiatrist(a specialist in mental health) or a community mental health team.
